Founded in 1998 by Mikhail Dimov, the Ermitage Art Academy provides a unique learning experience with its small class sizes of 3-5 students, allowing for a personally developed curriculum based on individual needs and creative paths. The academy is dedicated to providing a solid foundation in classical academic education within a nurturing environment that encourages learning, freedom, and artistic exploration. The training focuses on painting and drawing from observation, studying classical art, working outdoors (en plein air), and experimenting with both 2D and 3D media. Students also gain a thorough knowledge of anatomy, composition, and design.

Mikhail Dimov, the founder and instructor, acts as a mentor and guide to his students. He helps them discover their own unique talents and personal artistic direction, encouraging them to trust the creative process and see beauty in all aspects of life. In addition to his work at the academy, Mikhail is a well-respected mural painter in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and undertakes both commercial and private commissions.

The academy’s educational approach extends beyond the studio. Mikhail broadens the learning experience by taking students on field trips to museums and galleries. This exposure to professional artwork allows students to learn from established artists and see themselves as part of a larger artistic community and lineage. This comprehensive training helps students build strong portfolios for college applications and has led to acceptances at prestigious institutions.

The academy welcomes students of all ages, starting from five years old, and all skill levels. It offers group art classes, private lessons, private consultations, art mentorship, and specialized college portfolio preparation to help young artists achieve their goals.
